Two PDL Xtraverts (X716's) were supplied to a New Zealand effects company to control fans on the set of Peter Jackson's film version of JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". The order was secured on the condition that the shortest PDL sales engineer had to appear as a hobbit.
